It’s not uncommon for people to use the words artificial grass and Astro Turf interchangeably, especially when describing the kind of artificial turf you might find on a football pitch or other sports ground. But what is artificial grass? And how is artificial grass different from Astro Turf?
What’s the Difference Between Artificial Grass and Astro Turf?
Put simply, Astro Turf is the name of an American subsidiary that started producing artificial turf for playing surfaces in 1960. Artificial grass, on the other hand, is an umbrella term for all kinds of fake grass or artificial turf. Moreover, artificial grass is designed to mimic the properties of natural grass as much as possible for a more appealing product.
Is Astro Turf Better for Sports?
Whilst Astro Turf was originally designed for sports pitches, there are no recorded benefits of using the Astro Turf brand over any other brand of artificial grass when it comes to sports and activities.
We regularly install artificial grass on sports pitches and playgrounds across the country. In fact, all of our artificial grass has been approved for use in PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 Primary Play Spaces and has a kit specifically designed for each so it can be laid in the fraction of the time and at a fraction of the labour cost.
Where Else Can I Use Artificial Grass?
Artificial grass is perfect for keeping gardens, pitches, and playgrounds green all year long but there are many other places that can benefit from artificial grass. Have you considered having artificial grass inside your home? Whether you install it as a full carpet for an outdoors feature/football inspired room, or simply use a couple of patches as accent pieces, artificial grass can help you bring the outdoors in and add a delightful splash of colour to any home.
